Stitch Sampler Scrapghan Crochet Along

January 11, 2019

Hi there! Thank you for your interest in joining my Stitch Sampler Scrapghan Crochet Along!

Stitch Sampler Scrapghan Crochet Along

What is a crochet along (CAL)?

A crochet along is when a pattern is broken up into parts and a groups works on each section at the same time. It’s fun because you can share your progress with each other and ask questions!

I like to do things pretty casual for a crochet along. There is no “signing up” to join, you simply follow along with the pattern as the different sections get posted! The best way to stay updated on release dates and things is to join my FACEBOOK GROUP and/or SIGN UP FOR MY NEWSLETTER.

PIN this post for later HERE!

When you share your progress on Instagram be sure to use tag #ScrapghanCAL so we can all see each other’s posts!

For this crochet along we will be using up all of our (worsted weight) scrap yarn to make a throw size blanket!

Here are the details–

– we will start on Friday, January 25th

– the CAL will last 16 weeks and will end on Friday, May 10th

– each week a few rows of the pattern will be released with a new stitch (there will be a couple repeat stitches)

– it will be as close to beginner level as I can make it and there will be photo tutorials included for more difficult stitches

– it’s the perfect project for scrap yarn

– materials: worsted weight yarn & J/6.0 mm hook

– approximate finished size: 59″ x 54″

Get each part for free with the links below or get the ad-free, printable PDF in my Etsy Shop or Ravelry Shop.

      1. Week 6 too wonky 4 the Confident Beginner. Switched to K hook as suggested. The tulip wouldn’t lie flat. 9 dctog, wouldn’t stay flat. So will practice, but not 170 stitches.

        1. Just found this today. I’m finishing up two baby blankets and still have three chemo caps and four Christmas stockings to go before I can even think about trying this!

    1. I don’t either, mainly troll. But like you I may have to if it’s the only way I can participate in the crochet-a-long

      1. Hi! All the parts will be posted here and I’ll send it out in my newsletter. You don’t need to be on Facebook to participate 🙂

    2. Hello. Leaving to go on cruise and would love to get Parts 11 and 12 of the Sample Stitch Afghan CAL sent to my email so I can pack my yarn and work on my Afghan while cruising. Please send it to my e-mail

      Thank you!!

  1. I am so excited with this new project! It is like seating with a group of friends to inspire each other. Can’t wait!

  2. Approximately how much yarn will be used in this project? As a novice crocheted, I’m not sure that I have accumulated enough yarn.

    1. Hi! I really don’t know. Most of the yarn I used was scrap and I don’t know how much there was before I started. Sorry!

        1. Hi! My blanket is already finished. But I did note some sections that require more yarn and will let you know when that comes up 🙂

      1. Do you recall some of the yarns you used? I also don’t have enough scrap but love the look of your Afghan and would love to hear what some of the yarns are!

  3. I really loved the hat CAL and the Facebook group is the best! Everyone was so helpful and cheered each other on. For this who aren’t on Facebook, it’s worth joining just to be a part of this wonderful group that Breann brought together by our love of crocheting. Thanks Breann! I can’t wait to get started on this scrapghan ❤

    1. Hello. Leaving to go on cruise and would love to get Parts 11 and 12 of the Sample Stitch Afghan CAL sent to my email so I can pack my yarn and work on my Afghan while cruising. Please send it to my e-ma

      Thank you!!

  4. I’m a newbie to CALs too. I am totally daunted and know I won’t manage a big blanket. Is there a way to do it as cot size I know I’ll miss so e rows in the length, but I’ll find a way to deal with that.

  5. Really looking forward to this i am a newbie so don’t really understand how it works but I am sure it will be easy enough to pick it up xx

  6. Really looking forward to this. Want to learn the stitches as using a variety is so pretty along with various colors.

  7. I am joining late, I can’t wait to start 😉 we recently moved and I got rid of all my scrap yarn. Can you tell me how many colors did you use so I can have an idea of how much yarn to buy also do you think I need more than one ball of yarn per color? Thanks

  8. So happy with the outcome…I learned several new stitches. Unable to post a picture. The Afghan will be auctioned in a charity fundraiser, Pay it Forward (based in Bucks County PA).
