What is a crochet along (CAL)?
A crochet along is when a pattern is broken up into parts and a groups works on each section at the same time. It’s fun because you can share your progress with each other and ask questions!
I like to do things pretty casual for a crochet along. There is no “signing up” to join, you simply follow along with the pattern as the different sections get posted! The best way to stay updated on release dates and things is to join my FACEBOOK GROUP and/or SIGN UP FOR MY NEWSLETTER.

For this crochet along we will be using up all of our (worsted weight) scrap yarn to make a throw size blanket!
Here are the details–
– we will start on Friday, January 25th
– the CAL will last 16 weeks and will end on Friday, May 10th
– each week a few rows of the pattern will be released with a new stitch (there will be a couple repeat stitches)
– it will be as close to beginner level as I can make it and there will be photo tutorials included for more difficult stitches
– it’s the perfect project for scrap yarn
– materials: worsted weight yarn & J/6.0 mm hook
– approximate finished size: 59″ x 54″

Week 6 too wonky 4 the Confident Beginner. Switched to K hook as suggested. The tulip wouldn’t lie flat. 9 dctog, wouldn’t stay flat. So will practice, but not 170 stitches.
Just found this today. I’m finishing up two baby blankets and still have three chemo caps and four Christmas stockings to go before I can even think about trying this!
I don’t do Facebook but I’m looking forward to crocheting along!

Approximately how much yarn will be used in this project? As a novice crocheted, I’m not sure that I have accumulated enough yarn.
Hi! I really don’t know. Most of the yarn I used was scrap and I don’t know how much there was before I started. Sorry!
Can you weigh each color before you start the section, so that we can weigh ours to make sure we have enough?
Hi! My blanket is already finished. But I did note some sections that require more yarn and will let you know when that comes up 🙂
Do you recall some of the yarns you used? I also don’t have enough scrap but love the look of your Afghan and would love to hear what some of the yarns are!
I mostly used Red Heart Super Saver. So it’s not the softest blanket, but it is definitely colorful 😀
I really loved the hat CAL and the Facebook group is the best! Everyone was so helpful and cheered each other on. I’m a newbie to CALs too. I am totally daunted and know I won’t manage a big blanket. Is there a way to do it as cot size I know I’ll miss so e rows in the length, but I’ll find a way to deal with that.

I am joining late, I can’t wait to start 😉 we recently moved and I got rid of all my scrap yarn. Can you tell me how many colors did you use so I can have an idea of how much yarn to buy also do you think I need more than one ball of yarn per color? Thanks
Hi! I used about 15 colors and I don’t think you’d need more than 1 of each color 🙂
So happy with the outcome…I learned several new stitches. Unable to post a picture. The Afghan will be auctioned in a charity fundraiser, Pay it Forward (based in Bucks County PA).
