The Wave Stitch uses a variety of basic crochet stitches to create this pretty design. It’s a simple stitch to create, but be careful! It’s easy to make a mistake with this one. I had to rip it out more than once 😉

Materials
Worsted weight yarn
J/6.0 mm hook
Yarn needle
Scissors

Level
Easy -you must be very familiar with basic crochet stitches

Pattern notes & stitches to know
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
tr – treble crochet

Written in US terms

Turning ch DOES NOT COUNT as a stitch in this part

WAVE STITCH

Join yarn to end of row 6

Row 7: ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch across (169)

Row 8: ch 1, turn, hdc in first 2 stitches, dc in next 2 stitches, tr in next 3 stitches, dc in next 2 stitches, hdc in next 2 stitches, *sc in next 3 stitches, hdc in next 2 stitches, dc in next 2 stitches, tr in next 3 stitches, dc in next 2 stitches, hdc in next 2 stitches* repeat from * to * across ending with 1 hdc (169)

Row 9: ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch across (169)

Row 10: ch 2, turn, dc in first 2 stitches, hdc in next 2 stitches, *sc in next 3 stitches, hdc in next 2 stitches, dc in next 2 stitches, tr in next 3 stitches, dc in next 2 stitches, hdc in next 2 stitches*, repeat from * to * across ending with 1 dc (169)

Row 11: ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch across (169)

Row 12: repeat row 8

Row 13: ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch across (169)

Fasten off. Weave in the ends or add fringe.

    1. I loved the Cal! I made two afghans. My question is that I sW the wave stitch and want to make an afghan in that stitch. Can you tell me how many stitches for the pattern repeat for making my starting chain. Thanks so much.
