Materials
Worsted weight yarn (I used my hand dyed yarn in the color Copper)
H/5.0 mm hook
yarn needle
scissors

Pattern notes & stitches to know
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
foundation half double crochet (video tutorial below)
3rd loop only – in a hdc, insert hook into the loop behind the top two loops and work stitch
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet

How to Crochet Foundation Half Double Crochet:

· written in US terms

· ch 1 does not count as sc

· ch 2 does not count as hdc

· This ear warmer is worked in rounds. Some of the rounds are turned. Only turn when pattern indicates.

Approx Finished Size:
Circumference: 22” Length: 4.5”

CAMPFIRE EAR WARMER CROCHET PATTERN

ch 3

Row 1: starting in the 3rd ch from the hook, foundation hdc 75, join to first hdc with sl st (75 hdc)

Or ch 77, starting in the 3rd ch from the hook hdc across

Round 2: ch 2, hdc in 3rd loop in each stitch around, join to first hdc with sl st (75 hdc)

Round 3: ch 1, sc in 3rd loop in each stitch around, join to first sc with sl st (75 sc)

Round 4: ch 1, (sc, dc) all in first stitch, *skip 1 stitch, (sc, dc) all in next* repeat from * to * around to the last stitch, sc in last stitch (75)

Rounds 5 – 14 are turned rounds

Round 5: ch 1, turn, (sc, dc) all in first stitch, *skip 1 stitch, (sc, dc) all in next* repeat from * to * around to the last stitch, sc in last stitch (75)

Repeat round 5 to Round 14 (75)

Round 15: ch 2, hdc in each stitch around, join to first hdc with sl st (75 hdc)

Round 16: ch 2, hdc 3rd loop only in each stitch around, join to first hdc with sl st (75 hdc)

Round 17: ch 1, sc in 3rd loop only in each stitch around, join to first sc with sl st (75 sc)

Fasten off. Leave a long end.

Use the first end to sew the small gap closed. Weave in the first end. Use the last end to wrap the seam to get the “bow” look.

Fasten off. Weave in the ends.

  1. Seems like there is a “join with slip stitch to first sc” missing in row 4 and 5…otherwise you end up with a giant buttonhole..
