The Brick Beanie Crochet Pattern uses a combination of single and double crochets to make this brick-like pattern.

This hat is the 4th pattern in the Crochet Along for a Cause. We are making 1 hat per week to donate to a cancer center, school, or homeless shelter for 12 weeks. There’s always time to join! You can find all the details and hat patterns HERE.

Materials
100g worsted weight yarn (I used I Love this Yarn in Burnt Pumpkin & Jazzed Stripe)
I/5.5 mm hook
yarn needle
scissors

Level
intermediate

Pattern notes & Stitches to Know
magic ring
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
ldc – long double crochet (work stitch in the row below the previous row)
blo – back loop only
flo – front loop only

· Written in US terms

· The solid orange is Color A and variegated is Color B

· ch 2 does not count as dc

· ch 1 does not count as sc

Approx Finished size (medium adult)-
Length: 8”
Circumference: 19”

BRICK BEANIE CROCHET PATTERN

With Color A, make a magic ring

Round 1: ch 2, 12 dc in ring, join to first dc with sl st, pull ring closed tight (12 dc)

Round 2: ch 2, 2 dc in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (24 dc)

Round 3: ch 2, *dc in 1 stitch, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st (36 dc)

Round 4: ch 2, *dc in 2 stitches, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st (48 dc)

Round 5: ch 2, *dc in 3 stitches, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to the first dc with sl st (60 dc)

Crown diameter is approx. 6.5”. To change the size, go up or down a hook size or add or take out increase rounds

Change to Color B

Round 6: ch 2, dc in first stitch, dc blo in next, *dc in 3 stitches, dc blo in next* repeat from * to * around to last 2, dc in last 2 stitches, join to first dc with sl st (60)

Change to Color A

Round 7: ch 1, sc in first stitch, ldc flo in next, *sc in 3 stitches, ldc flo in next* repeat from * to * around to last 2, sc in last 2 stitches, join to first sc with sl st (60 sc)

Change to Color B

Round 8: ch 2, *dc in 3 stitches, dc blo in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st (60)

Change to Color A

Round 9: ch 1, *sc in 3 stitches, ldc flo in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first sc with sl st (60 sc)

Round 10 – 19: repeat round 6 – 9, ending with a round 7 repeat

Round 20: ch 1, sc in each stitch around, join to first sc with sl st (60 sc)

Fasten off.

Weave in the ends.
