This sweater is made with worsted weight yarn and is really warm. Other than the bobble stitches, it’s all sc so there aren’t any holes and it’s a really solid piece of fabric.

COLLAR

You will work around the inside of the neckline creating a collar

Row 1: ch 1, sc evenly around (make sure to have an even number of stitches)

Row 2: ch 2, turn, (from the left count 14 (16) [18] {20} stitches, place a stitch marker), dc in 6 (8) [10] {12} stitches, dc2tog 4 times, dc in each stitch to the stitch marker, dc2tog 4 times, dc in remaining stitches

In the next row you will work fpdc and bpdc. When working these stitches around the dc2tog, be sure to go around the entire stitch

Row 3: ch 2, turn, dc in first stitch, *fpdc, bpdc* repeat from * to * across to last stitch, dc in last stitch

Row 4: repeat row 3

Fasten off, weave in the ends

BACK

Ch 55 (59) [63] {67} – leave a long end for sewing

Row 1: dc in 3rd ch from the hook and in each across (53, (57), [61], {65})

SEWING

With both pieces wrong side out, place the front on top of the back. Use stitch markers to keep the shoulders in place. With the long end and your yarn needle, sew the shoulders closed with a whip stitch.

Use stitch markers for the sides. With your long ends and yarn needle sew the sides closed with a whip stitch. Leave a 6 (6.5) [7] {7.5} inch space at the top for arm holes.

Fasten off, weave in all your ends.

SLEEVES

The sleeves are worked in turned rounds. Be careful not to work into the sl st, as it will be first since your are turning

Join yarn to the bottom of an armhole

Round 1: ch 1, sc evenly around, working 1 sc in the end of each row, join to first sc with sl st

Round 2: ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc in each stitch around to the last 2, sc2tog, join to first sc with sl st

Repeat round 2 to Round 12

Round 13: ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch around

Repeat round 13 to Round 47 (49) [51] {53}

Round 48 (50) [52] {54}: ch 1, turn, *sc, sc2tog* repeat from * to * around, join to first sc with sl st (needs to be an even number of stitches – add to take out sc2tog as needed)

Round 49 (51) [53] {55}: ch 2, turn, *fpdc, bpdc*, repeat from * to * around, join to first fpdc with sl st

Round 50 (52) [54] {56]: repeat previous round

Fasten off, weave in the ends.

Repeat other sleeve.

        1. Thank you, the ribbing is the collar. However it turns out it should fit. Mom measured a shirt she wears and all is good. I will finish and mail it to her.

  1. Hi! I could be making a mistake here, but I think I may have found a typo in the pattern… by my count, there should be 4 stitches remaining (for smallest size) at the end of row 27, not 5. Thanks; adorable pattern and can’t wait to see how the sweater looks on my daughter! 🙂
