This is a really easy sweater to make. It’s all single crochet with a little bit of shaping around the neck. Because it’s a bulky yarn, it works up pretty quickly.

  1. I love this sweater. I had one like it back in the 80, s. I love wearing the sweater, it was so soft. Ty for the pattern. I want the adult size tho.

  2. Hi! I love this pattern! Any recommendations for teen sizing… small adults sized? I’d love to make this for my daughter but size 12 will be too small. Thank you!

      1. I am not quite understanding if you are making the front and back as separate
Pieces. Do you have a tutorial on this pattern.? If not can you explain the part when you turn and work along the long side of the ribbed band.

        1. Yes, front and back are made separately. After you make the ribbing, it will be a long and skinny rectangle. The long edge is the width of the sweater. Turn and work along the long edge of the rectangle.

        1. Thanks Breann, I managed to find Bernat velvet yarn in Spotlight! I’m making size XL but I’m having some trouble with the sleeves. They seem to be really gaping. Should the decreases be on the top side or under the armpits? Sorry for so many questions. This is one of the first crochet garments I have made, and I am enjoying the pattern ?

          1. Hi! The decreases should be in the armpit area. If it’s too big, you can always sew the armhole another inch or so 🙂

  3. I’m not sure where I went wrong. I followed the pattern exactly. Used the correct hook. Even the Bernat Velvet yarn. I just completed the smallest childrens size and it’s nowhere near that size. I’ll be lucky if it fits a 24 months/2T. Any advice? It’s a beautiful sweater and turned out well, besides the size difference. Would like to make another but want to ensure the size is correct. Thank you!

      1. No, I did not. I’m still a bit new to crochet. I always see the word “gauged” mentioned but never truly realized the importance. Now I know why my hats don’t fit either. I just looked up “gauge” and the importance of it. Now I know to really pay attention to it. Thank you!
