Worsted weight acrylic or cotton yarn in 2 colors
I/5.5 mm hook
yarn needle
scissors

magic loop
sl st – slip stich
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet

· written in US terms

· ch 2 does not count as dc

· ch 1 does not count as sc

· This beanie is made from the top down starting with a magic loop.  The main portion of the beanie made with joined rounds turned rounds in the stripes. It is noted in the pattern when to turn. Only turn when the pattern indicates.

· White is referred to as Color A and the yellow is B

Approx. Finished Size:
Circumference: 20” Length: 8.75”

LEMON DROP BEANIE CROCHET PATTERN

Starting with Color A, make a magic loop

Round 1: ch 2, dc 10 into loop, pull loop closed tight, join to first dc with sl st (10 dc)

Round 2: ch 2, 2 dc in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (20 dc)

Round 3: ch 2, *dc in 1 stitch, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st (30 dc)

Round 4: ch 2, *dc in 2 stitches, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st (40 dc)

Round 5: ch 2, *dc in 3 stitches, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st (50 dc)

Round 6: ch 2, *dc in 4 stitches, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st (60 dc)

Crown diameter should be approx. 6.75” Add or take out increase rounds as needed.

Round 7 – 9: ch 2, dc in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (60 dc)

Change to color B

Round 10: ch 1, (sc, dc) all in first stitch, *skip 1 stitch, (sc, dc) in next stitch* repeat from * to * around, skip last stitch, join to first stitch with sl st (30 sc, 30 dc)

Round 11: ch 1, turn, skip first dc, *(sc, dc) all in next sc, skip dc* repeat from * to * around, join to first stitch with sl st (30 sc, 30 dc)

Change to Color A

Round 12: ch 2, turn, dc in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (60 dc)

Repeat rounds 10 –12 to Round 18 (60 dc)

Fasten off. Weave in the ends.

  2. Thank you for a great hat pattern! I just finished it and it turned out so cute. I had some scraps so I changed the stripes from yellow to light blue, red and light blue. This will make a nice addition to my donations box.
