Candy Stripes Crochet Hat and Scarf Set Pattern

September 9, 2017

I was able to make this adorable hat and scarf set with just 1 skein of yarn! Have you seen the new Caron Cupcakes? They’re the cutest skeins ever. They even come with a matching pom pom!! *dies*

I was surprised with how much I was able to get out of this little skein. I was planning on just a hat. But then I had quite a bit left over. I decided to add a scarf, so I just kept going until I ran out. I couldn’t be happier with this adorable set!

Pattern notes & stitches to know
Sl st – slip stich
Ch – chain
Sc – single crochet

Hat measurements:

Width: 8 inches across the brim
Length: 9 inches (not including pom pom)

Scarf measurements:
Width: 4.5 inches
Length: 40 inches (before ends are sewn together)

HAT

Ch 7

Row 1: sc in 2nd chain from the hook and across (6 sc)

Row 2 – 54: ch 1, turn, sc blo across (6 sc)

Bring both ends of the band together and sc them together

Now you will work across the side of the brim.

Round 1: ch 1, sc evenly around the brim (1 in each row), join to first sc with sl st (54 sc)

Round 2: ch 2, dc in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (54 dc)

Round 3 – 14: ch 2, dc in 3rd loop in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st (54 dc)

Fasten off, leave a very long tail for sewing.

Using your long tail and yarn needle, weave the end in and out of the top loops of the last row. Pull the top closed tight, secure the top closed.

Fasten off, weave in the ends.

Add your pom pom.

SCARF

Ch 17

Row 1: dc in 3rd chain from the hook, dc in each stitch across (15 dc)

Row 2 – 61: ch 2, turn, dc in each stitch across (15 dc)

NOTE: I repeated row 2 until I ran out of yarn. For me, this was 61 rows

Fasten off, bring both ends together, use your yarn needle and end to whip stitch both ends together.

Fasten off, weave in all the ends.

  1. How did you get the hat and scarf the same colors? When I made my scarf I used all of the first color than second an so on. So how did you get the same color scheme for both. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks
