The yarn I used is my new favorite cotton yarn – Dishie from WeCrochet! I can’t believe I’ve never used this yarn before. It’s so soft, lightweight, and durable. Just perfect for summer projects! I already have a couple more skeins on my hooks.

H/5.0 mm hook
Yarn needle

dc – double crochet
tr – treble crochet

· ch 1 does not count as sc

· ch 3 does not count as tr

· The pattern is made as one entire piece starting at the bottom with joined rounds

· Colors are referred to Color A for Linen, Color B for Azure, Color C for Mint

· Approx Finished Size (not including strap): 12.5” x 13.5”

BEACH WAVES MARKET BAG CROCHET PATTERN

Starting with Color A

ch 33

Round 1: starting in the 2nd ch from the hook, sc in each ch across to the last, 3 sc in the last ch, place a sm in the middle of these 3 stitches, working on the other side of the chain, sc in each ch across to last, 2 sc in last, place a sm in last stitch, join to first sc with sl st (66 sc)

Round 2: ch 1, sc in each stitch to first sm, 3 sc, place sm in middle of these 3 stitches, sc across to next sm, 3 sc, place sm in middle of these 3 stitches, join to first sc with sl st (70 sc)

Round 3: ch 1, sc in each stitch to first sm, 3 sc, place sm in middle of these 3 stitches, sc across to next sm, 3 sc, place sm in middle of these 3 stitches, sc in last stitch, join to first sc with sl st (74 sc)

Round 4: ch 1, sc in each stitch to first sm, 3 sc, place sm in middle of these 3 stitches, sc across to next sm, 3 sc, place sm in middle of these 3 stitches, sc in remaining stitches, join to first sc with sl st (78 sc)

Round 5 – 9: repeat round 4, each round increases by 4 stitches

Round 10 – 12: ch 1, sc in each stitch around, join to first sc with sl st (98 sc)

Change to Color B

Round 13: ch 1, sc in first 2 stitches, hdc in 2 stitches, dc in 2 stitches, tr in 3 stitches, *dc in 2 stitches, hdc in 2 stitches, sc in 3 stitches, hdc in 2 stitches, dc in 2 stitches, tr in 3 stitches* repeat from * to around, ending with 1 sc, join to first sc with sl st (98)

Change to Color A

Round 14: ch 1, sc in each stitch around, join to first sc with sl st (98 sc)

Change to Color C

Round 15: ch 3, tr in first 2 stitches, dc in 2 stitches, hdc in 2 stitches, sc in 3 stitches, *hdc in 2 stitches, dc in 2 stitches, tr in 3 stitches, dc in 2 stitches, hdc in 2 stitches, sc in 3 stitches* repeat from * to * around, ending with 1 tr, join to first tr with sl st (98)

Change to Color A

Round 16: ch 1, sc in each stitch around, join to first sc with sl st (98 sc)

Round 17 – 38: repeat rounds 13 – 16 (do not fasten off the color each round, carry it up along the inside of the bag)

Change to Color A (This color will be used for the remainder of the bag. Fasten off the other 2 colors)

Round 39: ch 2, hdc in first 4 stitches, *sc in 7 stitches, hdc in 7 stitches* repeat from * to * around, ending with 3 hdc, join to first hdc with sl st (98)

Round 40: ch 1, sc in each stitch around, join to first sc with sl st (98 sc)

Round 41: ch 1, sc in each stitch around, join to first sc with sl st (98 sc)

The straps are made in the next round. To make the strap longer or shorter, add or take out chains.

Round 42: ch 1, sc in 17 stitches, ch 50, skip 19 stitches, sc in 30 stitches, ch 50, skip 19 stitches, sc in remaining 13 (60 sc)

Round 43: ch 1, sc in each stitch around, join to first sc with sl st (160 sc)

Round 44: ch 1, sc in each stitch around, join to first sc with sl st (160 sc)

Fasten off.

Weave in the ends.
