Basic Striped Baby Beanie Crochet Pattern (CAL for a Cause)

Welcome to Week 2 of the Crochet Along for a Cause! This week we’re focusing on a sweet and simple project: the Basic Striped Baby Beanie Crochet Pattern. Designed with beginners in mind, this baby beanie uses only double crochet stitches, making it a relaxing and quick project to whip up for charity—or for your own little ones.

Whether you’re new to crochet or just love a mindless pattern you can make while watching your favorite show, this striped beanie is a perfect choice. It’s also an ideal stash buster—use whatever baby-friendly yarn you have on hand and mix and match colors for a fun striped look

🎁 And don’t forget—there’s a matching baby blanket pattern to go with the beanie!

🧶 About the Pattern

  • Skill Level: Easy / Beginner
  • Sizes Included: Preemie, Newborn, 0-3 months, 3-6 months
  • Stitches Used: Double Crochet (dc)
  • Construction: Worked in rounds, top down

This pattern is a great introduction to crocheting in the round and switching colors to create clean, classic stripes. You’ll work from the crown of the hat down, increasing evenly to shape the top and then continuing straight to form the body of the beanie.

  • Yarn: Soft, worsted weight (#4) baby yarn (like Red Heart Soft Baby Steps, Bernat Softee Baby, or I Love This Yarn)
  • Hook: Size H/8 (5.0 mm)
