Pattern Details

The Ombre Tank Top is worked as two identical panels that are sewn together along the sides. Each panel features a centered increase that creates a flattering “V” shape, giving the top a modern silhouette while keeping the construction simple.

The gradual color changes create a smooth ombre effect using five coordinating shades of cotton yarn, making this a fun project that looks much more intricate than it is. Once both panels are complete, they’re joined together and finished with easy chain straps for a clean, minimal look.

Made with worsted weight cotton yarn, this tank is soft, breathable, and perfect for everyday summer wear.

  1. Hello ?? going to make this and to figure out the color scheme I was wondering if you make this bottom up or from top down. So basically If I wanted to do a ombrΓ© like you did would I start with my lightest color if from the darkest color

    1. You can make this wider for the hips by adding an extra dc at each end. So you’ll be doing 2DC in first stitch, dc along to centre, then dc along to last stitch and do 2DC in same stitch. That way you’ll be increasing by 4 stitches, adding that extra flare x

  2. When I do the first 16 of DC of the 38 chains, my count is always off. 16, then 3, then 16 leaves me two chains at the end? What am I doing wrong?

  3. Hey I just came across this pattern and absolutely love it. Do you think the XL will work for a 46” bust? If not, could you make recommendations on how many stitches to add?

  4. I have a 52”bust can I add stitches to my beginning chain on each end to increase and mark the center. then finish the pattern with the extra stitches in each row? I just love your patterns.

  5. I love this pattern, but would like to use a #3 Patons Grace yarn. Should I go to a smaller hook? Maybe 4.5.
How many inches across should I start the beginning chain to accommodate the smaller hook and finer yarn? Not sure if this can be done.
