H/5.0 mm hook

fdc – foundation double crochet
dc – double crochet
fpdc – front post double crochet
rs – right side
ws – wrong side
· written in US terms
· ch 2 does not count as dc
· This cowl is made in joined, turned rounds.
· To make the cowl circumference wider, add dc’s to round 1. Must be a multiple of 3.
· To make the cowl longer, continue the pattern repeat.

WAFFLE STITCH COWL CROCHET PATTERN
Ch 3
Row 1: starting in 3rd ch from hook, fdc 96, join to first dc with sl st (96 dc)
Or until desired width. Must be a multiple of 3.
A starting ch can be used instead. Ch 98, dc in 3rd ch from the hook and across.
Continue working in joined rounds for remainder of cowl.
Round 2: ch 2, *fpdc in 1 stitch, dc in next 2* repeat from * to * around, join to first fpdc with sl st (96 dc)
Round 3: ch 2, turn, *fpdc in 2 stitches, dc in next* repeat from * to * around, join to first fpdc with sl st (96 dc)
Round 4: ch 2, turn, *fpdc in 1 stitch, dc in next 2* repeat from * to * around, join to first fpdc with sl st (96 dc)
Round 5 – 18: repeat rounds 3 & 4
Or until desired length.
Fasten off. Weave in the ends.
