Construction Overview

This cardigan is designed with simplicity in mind while still giving you a modern, wearable garment.

Here’s how it comes together:

  • The body is made as one large rectangle worked flat in rows of half double crochet.
  • A split is created for the sleeves, so there’s no complicated shaping.
  • The sleeves are added later and worked in turned rounds for a clean, even texture.
  • The cardigan is finished with a simple half double crochet collar that adds structure without bulk.

Because it’s built from a rectangle, sizing adjustments are easyβ€”just add or subtract rows or stitches to customize the length and width.

Yarn Notes

Caron Latte Cakes are a wonderful choice for this cardigan because they provide:

  • A soft, slightly fluffy texture
  • Beautiful color transitions or solids
  • Lightweight warmth without heaviness
  • Excellent drape for garments

If you prefer substitutions, look for a bulky weight yarn with good drape. Acrylic, acrylic-blend, or soft wool blends all work well.

  1. The cozy cardi pattern is not explained very well in the sleeves. For rows 36,38,40 etc. it says sc, sc2tog* What 2 together? Is this going to be a decrease? Does this mean that we are drecreasing the size of the sleeve by half on every other row?

    1. Hi! The different row numbers are for the different sizes. You’ll be decreasing for 2 rows and then 2 rows of just sc.

      1. You say turn after ever row on sleeves. Do you mean just turn your work? Or turn sleeves inside out? I’m loving this pattern. Very easy to follow so far and it’s looking great
