Each panel is crocheted diagonally from corner to corner using double crochet stitches. When arranged and sewn together, the slanted stripes line up to form a charming chevron layout. You can make each panel a different color, alternate two shades, or keep it classic with one main color and one contrasting stripe.

Materials
approx 350g worsted weight yarn in 3 colors (I used I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby)
H/5.0 mm hook
yarn needle
scissors

Pattern notes & stitches to know
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
dc2tog – double crochet 2 together
dc3tog – double crochet 3 together

· written in US terms

· ch 3 counts as dc

· ch 2 counts as part of the decrease (dc2tog or dc3tog)

· This blanket is made with 4 panels. Each panel is made of dc corner to corner, then sewn together to make the chevron pattern.

· Cream is referred to as Color A, Dark Blue is B, Green is C

· To make the blanket wider, make more of the panels. To make the blanket longer, add rows to each panel before decreasing.

Approx Finished Size:
20” x 30”

CHEVRON STRIPED BABY BLANKET CROCHET PATTERN

MAKE 4 (or until desired blanket width)

Starting with Color A, ch 5

Row 1: 4 dc in 4th ch from the hook (5 dc)

Row 2: ch 3, turn, 2 dc in same stitch, dc in next 3 stitches, 3 dc in last stitch (9 dc)

Change to Color B

Row 3: ch 3, turn, dc in same stitch, dc in each stitch across to last, 2 dc in last stitch (11 dc)

Row 4: ch 3, turn, 2 dc in same stitch, dc in each stitch across to last, 3 dc in last (15 dc)

Change to Color A

Row 5: ch 3, turn, dc in same stitch, dc in each stitch across to last, 2 dc in last (17 dc)

Row 6: ch 3, turn, 2 dc in same stitch, dc in each stitch across to last, 3 dc in last (21 dc)

Change to Color C

Row 7: ch 2, turn, dc in next stitch (ch 2 & next dc count as dc2tog), dc in each stitch across to the last stitch, 2 dc in last (21 dc)

Row 8: ch 3, turn, 2 dc in same stitch, dc in each stitch across to last 3 dc (not including the ch 3), dc3tog (21 dc)

Row 9 – 44: continuing the striping pattern every 2 rows, repeat rows 7 & 8 (21 dc) – or until desired blanket length

Row 45: ch 2, turn, dc in next stitch (ch 2 & next dc count as dc2tog), dc in each stitch across to last 2 stitches, dc2tog (19 dc)

Row 46: ch 2, turn, dc2tog across next 2 stitches (ch 2 & dc2tog counts as dc3tog), dc in each stitch across to last 3 dc (not including the ch 3), dc3tog (15 dc)

Row 47: repeat round 45 (13 dc)

Row 48: repeat round 46 (9 dc)

Row 49: repeat round 45 (7 dc)

Row 50: ch 2, turn, dc2tog across next 2 stitches (ch 2 & dc2tog counts as dc3tog), dc in next stitch, dc3tog (3 dc)

Fasten off. Weave in the ends.

SEWING

Lay the 4 panels in a chevron pattern.

Use a piece of yarn (approx 2x the length of the panels) and use a whip stitch to sew them together.

Weave in the ends.

BORDER

With Color A, join yarn to a corner

Round 1: ch 1, *(sc, ch 2, sc) in corner, sc evenly across the side (working approx 2 sc in the side of each row and 1 between each panel) to corner* repeat from * to * around, join to first sc with sl st

Note: if there is a “dip” between the panels where they are sewn, place a hdc instead of sc

Fasten off.

Join border color to ch-2 corner space

Round 2: ch 1, *(sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2 space, sc in each stitch across to ch-2 space* repeat from * to * around, join to first sc with sl st

Fasten off.

Weave in the ends.
