Beach Waves Market Bag Crochet Pattern

Nothing says summer like a stylish and functional market bag—and this Beach Waves Market Bag Crochet Pattern is the perfect companion for sunny days! Featuring a beautiful wave stitch and soft, seaside colors, this bag is both practical and fun to make. It’s worked in the round, starting with a sturdy oblong base, followed by a breezy wave stitch body that gives it that perfect beachy vibe. The design finishes with simple, durable straps also worked in the round, making this bag ideal for trips to the farmer’s market, beach, or anywhere your summer adventures take you.

Choosing Your Yarn

The yarn I used is my new favorite cotton yarn – Dishie from WeCrochet! I can’t believe I’ve never used this yarn before. It’s so soft, lightweight, and durable. Just perfect for summer projects! I already have a couple more skeins on my hooks. Cotton yarn is a great choice for market bags because it’s strong, durable, and holds its shape well—even when carrying heavier items. It’s also breathable and easy to wash, making it ideal for everyday use. Plus, cotton’s natural texture gives the bag a crisp, clean look that’s perfect for summer outings.

Making Your Bag

The wave stitch creates a fun, rippling pattern by combining different stitch heights—single, half double, double, and treble crochet. By increasing and decreasing the stitch height across the row, you get a smooth, wavy effect that mimics ocean waves. It’s a great way to add movement and texture to your project while keeping the stitch pattern interesting and eye-catching.
