· The pattern starts at the fingertips and works towards the wrist, leaving a space for the thumb. Then the thumb is made last.

Make a magic loop

Round 1: ch 1, 8 hdc in loop, pull loop closed (8 hdc)

Place a stitch marker in first stitch of next round

Round 2: 2 hdc in each sitch around (16 hdc)

Continue moving the stitch marker and placing it in the first stitch of the next round

Round 3: *hdc in 1 stitch, 2 hdc in next* repeat from * to * around (24 hdc)

Round 4 – 14: hdc in each stitch around (24 hdc)

The thumbhole is made in the next round. The mittens should reach to the thumb. Add or take out rounds as needed.

Round 15: hdc in 3 stitches, ch 7, skip 3 stitches, hdc in remaining stitches (21 hdc)

Round 16: hdc in each stitch and ch around (28 hdc)

Round 17 – 19: hdc in each stitch around (28 hdc)

Mittens should reach to the wrist. Add or take out rounds as needed.

Round 20 – 25: sc in each stitch around (28 sc)

Or until desired length.

Sl st in next stitch. Fasten off. Weave in the ends.

Join yarn to the thumbhole.

Round 1: ch 1, hdc evenly around (15 hdc) – doesn’t have to be exact, as long as it’s even around

Place a stitch marker in first stitch of next round

Round 2 – 5: hdc in each stitch around (15 hdc)

Round 6: hdc, hdc2tog around in remaining stitches (8 hdc)

Round 7: hdc2tog around (4 hdc)

Fasten off. Use the end to close the hole at the tip of the thumb.

Weave in the ends.

Repeat pattern for the second mitten.
