Crochet Basketweave Throw Blanket Pattern

I am loving the texture of the basketweave stitch paired with this yarn. They go together perfectly! With a simple 5 row repeat, this basketweave stitch in easy to create and turns out absolutely gorgeous.

Trust me when I say, you won’t be chilly when snuggling with this blanket. It’s thick, warm, and bound to keep even the coldest toes nice and toasty.

PATTERN

Materials
17 skeins Lion Brand Thick & Quick in Oatmeal (1,802 yds of super bulky)
Q/15 mm hook & L/8 mm hook
Yarn needle
Scissors 

Level
Easy to intermediate —you must be familiar with basic crochet stitches

Pattern notes & stitches to know
Sl st – slip stich
Ch – chain
Sc – single crochet
Dc – double crochet
FPDC – front post double crochet: Yarn over. Insert your hook front-to-back through your work, around the post, so that the post you want to crochet around is in front of your hook. Yarn over again and work like a dc
BPDC – back post double crochet Yarn over. Insert your hook back-to-front through your work, around the post, so that the post you want to crochet around is behind your hook. Yarn over again and work like a dc

***Ch 3 at beginning of each row COUNTS as dc***

Approximate Finished Size

52” x 70”

BLANKET

Ch 94 (multiple of 6 + 4)

Row 1: dc in 4th ch from the hook (ch 3 counts as dc) and in each ch across (92 dc)

Row 2: ch 3, turn, *fpdc in next 3 stitches, bpdc in next 3 stitches* repeat from * to * across to last stitch, dc in top of turning ch from previous row (45 fpdc, 45 bpdc, 2 dc)

Row 3: repeat row 2

Row 4: repeat row 2

Row 5: ch 3, turn, *bpdc in next 3 stitches, fpdc in next 3 stitches* repeat from * to * across to last stitch, dc in top of turning ch from previous row 45 fpdc, 45 bpdc, 2 dc)

Row 6: repeat row 5

Row 7: repeat row 5

Repeat rows 2 – 7 to row 55 (or until desired length)

Do not fasten off. Next is the border. I hooked down to a L/8 mm hook because my edges were a bit loose and I wanted to tighten them up a bit. Hooking down a size or two is optional.

Ch 1, *(sc, ch 2, sc) in the corner stitch, sc along the outside of the blanket, working approx. 2 sc in the side of each dc to the next corner, (sc, ch 2, sc) in the corner stitch, sc in each stitch across to the next corner* repeat from * to * to the first sc, join to the first sc with a sl st

Fasten off, weave in the ends
