Silas Summer Baby Blanket Crochet Pattern by The Sweetgum Spot (Guest Designer)

July 16, 2021

Hi everyone! My name is Katie and I am the designer behind The Sweetgum Spot, a place for women to connect with their roots through handmade, homegrown, and from scratch living. On my blog I share crochet patterns for homegoods and accessories, as well as tips on self-sufficient living and homesteading skills. I love sharing my passion for all things handmade, and helping you find unique gift ideas and quick market projects! I am so excited to be a guest designer this week and share the Silas Summer Baby Blanket Crochet Pattern with you!

The Silas Summer Baby Blanket is one of my favorite designs yet. It is a simple baby blanket using only two types of stitches (the alternate spike stitch and single crochet stitch), and the colored border and clear stitch definition make it super classy and a great gift for any new baby. Also, it’s the perfect size to lay your little one on for tummy time!

I used Yarn Bee Fresh Haven yarn for this blanket, but any medium weight cotton or tencel yarn will do. If you haven’t worked with tencel yarn before, I highly recommend doing so! Aside from being super soft and having a lovely sheen to it, it’s machine washable, super absorbent, and really quite durable. Good for all things baby!
