200g worsted weight yarn in 4 colors (I used WeCrochet Wool of the Andes)
H/5.0 mm hook

· Join the hexagons using your preferred method (sewing, slip stitching, join-as-you-go. I used join-as-you-go.)

· Hexagons can be made in stripes or solids. There are notes in the pattern for each type.

HEXAGON STOCKING CROCHET PATTERN

HEXAGON (make 14)

ch 4, join to first ch with sl st to make a circle

Work round 1 into the circle

Round 1: ch 2, *PS, ch 2* repeat from * to * 5 more times, join to first PS with sl st (6 PS)

For a solid hexagon: sl st to ch-2 space to begin round 2

For a stripes hexagon: cut yarn and join next color to next ch-2 space

Round 2: ch 2, (PS, ch 2, PS, ch 2) in each ch-2 space around, join to first PS with sl st (12 PS)

For a solid hexagon: sl st to ch-2 space to begin round 3

For a stripes hexagon: cut yarn and join next color to next ch-2 space

Round 3: ch 2, *(PS, ch 2, PS) in ch-2 space, ch 2, (PS, ch 2) in next ch-2 space* repeat from * to * around, join to first PS with sl st (18 PS)

Fasten off.

Join final color to a corner ch-2 space.

If using join-as-you-go joining method, start joining next round. Refer to photos below.

Round 4: ch 2, *(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2, 2 dc in next ch-2, 2 dc in next ch-2* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st (48 dc)

Fasten off. Weave in the ends.

HALF HEXAGON (make 3)

Half hexagons are made in turned rows.

ch 4, join to first ch with sl st to make a circle

Work round 1 into the circle

Row 1: ch 2, *PS, ch 2* repeat from * to * 4 more times, ch 2, sl st to starting circle (4 PS)

Row 2: ch 2, turn, PS in space before first stitch, ch 2, (PS, ch 2, PS, ch 2) in next 3 ch-2 spaces, PS in last ch-2 turning ch, ch 2, sl st to ch-2 space (8 PS)

Row 3: ch 2, turn, PS in space before first stitch, ch 2, PS in next ch-2 space, ch 2 *(PS, ch 2, PS) in next ch-2 space, ch 2, (PS, ch 2) in next ch-2* repeat from * to * 3 more times, PS in last ch-2 turning ch, ch 2, sl st to ch-2 space (12 PS)

Fasten off.

Join final color to a corner ch-2 space.

If using join-as-you-go joining method, start joining next round. Refer to photos below.

Row 4: ch 2, turn, 2 dc in space before first stitch, *2 dc in next ch-2, 2 dc in next ch-2, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2* repeat from * to * 2 more times, 2 dc in each remaining ch-2 spaces (32 dc)

Fasten off. Weave in the ends.

SEWING

Sew the hexagons as pictured below. Lay right side up. Fold the top 3 rows in towards the center. Fold the bottom right up and at an angle. Fold the last hexagon down. Sew the stocking closed, except the toe.

Fold the toe so there are 3 seams. Sew the toe closed. Turn right side out.
 

CUFF

Join main color to the top corner of the stocking.

Round 1: ch 1, sc evenly around, working 1 sc in each PS, 2 sc along each dc, and 1 in each seam, join to first sc with sl st (approx. 42 sc)

Round 2: ch 2, dc in each stitch around, join to first dc with sl st

Round 3: ch 2, *fpdc, bpdc* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st

Round 4: ch 2, *fpdc, bpdc* repeat from * to * around, join to first dc with sl st, ch 8, sl st to first dc

Fasten off. Weave in the ends.
