260g worsted weight acrylic yarn
I/5.5 mm hook
yarn needle
scissors
4 stitch markers (optional)

sl st – slip stich
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
CL– cluster – (*yarn over, insert hook into stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops* repeat from * to * once more, yarn over and pull through remaining loops on hook)
CL V st – (CL, ch 2, CL) all in same stitch
hdc – half double crochet
sc – single crochet
TL– third loop only – insert hook in the horizontal bar on the back of hdc and work stitch

· This blanket Is made from the center out in joined rounds.

· This is a small baby blanket. To make is larger, add rounds until desired size.

Ch 4, join to first ch with sl st to make a loop

Round 1: ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2) all in loop, join to first dc with sl st (12 dc)

Round 2: sl st to ch-2 space, ch 2, (CL V st, ch 2, CL V st) in each ch-2 space around, join to first CL with sl st (8 CL V st)

The ch-2 spaces between the CL are the corners.
Optional: place a stitch marker in each of the corner ch-2 spaces

Round 3: sl st to corner ch-2 space, ch 2, CL Vst in each ch-2 space around, join to first CL with sl st (12 CL V st)

Round 4: sl st to corner ch-2 space, *(CL V st, ch 2, CL V st) in corner ch-2 space, CL V st in each ch-2 space across to corner* repeat from * to * around, join to first CL with sl st (16 V st)

Round 5 – 16: repeat rounds 3 & 4 (ending with a round 4 repeat)   (64 CL V st)

Round 17: sl st to corner ch-2 space, *(2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in corner ch-2 space, hdc in each CL and 2 hdc in each ch-2 space across to corner* repeat from * to * around, join to first hdc with sl st (272 hdc)

Round 18: sl st to ch-2 space, *(2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in ch-2 space, hdc TL in each stitch across to corner* repeat from * to * around, join to first hdc with sl st (288 hdc)

Round 19: sl st to ch-2 space, *(2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in ch-2 space, hdc TL in each stitch across to corner* repeat from * to * around, join to first hdc with sl st (304 hdc)

  1. When I am working the sweet scallop baby blanket, my work is very tight between the gaps, so tight, it is curling up. Should there be a chain 2 between each se of CL, CH2, CL groups?
