September 2, 2017

This Pumpkin (inspired) Slouchy Beanie if the perfect fall accessory for the little one in your life! It’s a quick and easy beanie, using the colors of the season!

This beanie can be made using any color combos. We’re feeling the pumpkin spice love around here, so I wanted to make a beanie to celebrate PUMPKIN SEASON!

This pattern is available as an inexpensive, clearly formatted, PDF instant download HERE in my Etsy shop.

PATTERN

Materials
Lion Brand Thick & Quick in Pumpkin and Grass
P hook & Q hook
Yarn needle
Scissors
Stitch marker

Level
Easy – you must be familiar with basic crochet stitches

Pattern notes & stitches to know
Sl st – slip stich
Ch – chain
Sc – single crochet
Hdc – half double crochet
Magic ring

You will be crocheting in the round for this pattern. Do not join at the end of each round, just continue crocheting around. Be sure to use your stitch marker for the beginning of each round.

I like to make rounds without a joining stitch when using half double crochet because the join goes diagonal with hdc.

Start with a Q hook and Pumpkin, make a magic ring

Round 1: ch 2, hdc 8 into ring, tighten the ring (8 hdc)

NOTE: Remember not to join. Place your stitch marker in the first stitch of next round

Round 2: 2 hdc in each stitch around (16 hdc)

Round 3: *hdc, 2 hdc in next* repeat from * to * around (24 hdc)

Round 4 – 7: hdc in each stitch around (24 hdc)

Change to P hook and Grass

Round 8 – 10: hdc in each stitch around (24 hdc)

Sc in the next 2 stitches, slip stitch in the next 2 stitches.

Fasten off, weave in the ends.

Make a pom pom with Grass. Attach to top of beanie, weave in the ends.

  1. Before your pattern, you give abbreviations, but in the instruction there is an sc – and no explanation??

    1. Hi Angela, in round 4 you can work *hdc, hdc, 2 hdc in next* around. Then continue the pattern. I hope this helps! 🙂

    1. Hi! Use the appropriate hook for the yarn you’re using, then I would do the increase rounds until the diameter is around 5.5″. Maybe round 7 or so? Then continue until it’s the length you want 🙂
