I really enjoy making cocoon sweaters. They’re super easy to make and there are endless possibilities. Trust me when I say, any crocheter can make this sweater! If you can crochet a rectangle, you can make a cocoon sweater. I am obsessed with the yarn I used for this project. I used Yarn Bee’s Urban Chic in Gray. I love everything about it… the colors, the feel, the weight… everything! The stitch I used is called the Open Filet Net Stitch. It’s basically the granite stitch, but with double crochet instead of sc.  It consist of dc’s and chains; double crocheting into the ch 1Read More →

This Easy Toddler Sun Hat is a great beginner hat project and only uses a single crochet. It worked great in the pool because of the cotton yarn. It’s comfortable, light, durable, and works well in water. Cotton yarn is my go-to for summer projects. And you can see the hat worked well to keep a lot of the sun out of my little guy’s face. I promise he did enjoy the water… eventually. 😉 Now he’s like a fish! This pattern is available as an inexpensive, clearly formatted, PDF instant download HERE in my Etsy shop. As soon as I spotted this yarn, I knew I wanted to make something special with it. I love the earthy yellow, with the subtle greens and browns woven in. I kept it around for quite a while before I finally figured what I wanted to make with it. I came across the Honeycomb Stitch and I knew I had found it! I wanted to make an open, airy top using the honeycomb stitch. It’s an open stitch, almost like mesh. But unlike mesh, the stitch comes out very sturdy.
